Who We Are

Action Recruitment was established over 40 years ago as one of the first hospitality agencies in Ireland and to this day we are still based out of Dublin.  With our experience over the years and expertise, we not only offer senior hotel job opportunities but also have in-depth knowledge in the areas of Revenue Management, Channel Distribution, Digital Marketing, Website Design, Social Media etc allowing us to know the best of E Commerce Directors, Revenue Directors, Digital Marketing Managers and many more.

Whilst we deal in many different aspects of hotel recruitment and may offer senior hotel jobs in all different categories, not all of our vacancies may be listed on the website due to confidentiality so we do ask you to contact us directly.

Below is a brief bio on the Action Recruitment team:

Noel Cafferkey – Managing Director & Owner


Noel grew up on Achill Island and gained a passion for the hospitality sector at the age of 14 when he took on a summer job with McDowells Hotel and he has not been able to get away from the industry ever since whether it be in Operations, Sales, Digital or Recruitment.

After completing 4 years studying Hotel & Catering Management in Athlone Institute of Technology he held a number of managerial roles for the next few years in Longueville Manor – Channel Islands, Prince of Wales Hotel – UK, Dingle Skelligs Hotel, Ballymascanlon House Hotel and then finally Pontoon Bridge Hotel – Action Recruitment was responsible for some of these placements.

Over a cup of coffee and a brief chat with Brian in 2005, Noel joined Action as a consultant for the next 5 years during which time he completed his CIPD in DIT and also a Diploma in online digital marketing from the digital marketing institute and then in 2009 he joined Avvio as Business Development Manager for the UK and Ireland.  After a stint of 3.5 years in digital marketing with Avvio he then took on the role of Director of Business Development for Northern Europe with Market Metrix – a US based hospitality software company working with some of the biggest brands in the world such as Melia, Langham, Barcelo, Rocco Forte, Scandic, Belmond.

Noel was excited to become the Managing Director & Owner of Action Recruitment in the summer of 2016.

Having come the full circle Noel is now “Back in Action” and excited to be part of the next leg of this incredible journey.


Brian Fahy – Founder & Company Advisor

This year I celebrate 43 years in the hotel recruitment business.  Looking back it has been a very rewarding roller coaster career, many successes and lots of challenging times, recessions etc.  My abiding sense  is one of gratitude for the many great people I have been associated with over the years.

The tourism and hospitality business was made for Ireland and it has contributed hugely to our economic success and our development as a confident nation.  Revenues and employment from tourism and hospitality compare very favourably with other economic sectors. The unique irish hospitality experience is also a major influencer in garnering overseas investment, and our success as an exporting nation.

Anyway , this is supposed to be a Bio…..I grew up in Mayo and went to boarding school in Garbally college Ballinasloe.  After secondary I tried textile design for a while (I come from Foxford).  Then I opted for a trainee management programme in the Old Jury’s in Dame St, later, with the help of Jorgen Blum of Shannon College I got another training stint in Switzerland and eventually wound up in Germany where I was mentored by a wonderful man named Hans Schmidt,who, arranged for me to attend Hotel School in Heidelberg.  I returned to Ireland in 1969 and worked in Renvyle House with Hugh Coyle. At the end of the season Bernard McDonagh hired me and I worked for him in the Clare Inn Hotel and Dromoland Castle.

In 1972 Noel Huggard offered me a role to open and run the newly built Ostan RinnRua in Ballinskelligs.  While in Kerry I met with Bob Frizelle, and the notion of an “employment agency” for hotel staff was born.

With the help of the IMI we did a business plan and launched Action with our late wives Mary and Gerry in October 1974.

I wonder what the next 43 years will bring.


Margaret Naughton – Managing Partner UAE


It still surprises me that my tender age I have been in the Hospitality Industry for over 20 years. In my first job I genuinely couldn’t believe that I got paid to chat to customers and my enthusiasm for the hospitality business has not ceased.

I graduated from Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland and enjoyed working in fine hotels in Scotland, Ireland, USA, Germany, Switzerland and most recently Dubai.  Positions ranged from Commis Chef, wash- up, accommodation and General Manager of Five Star Hotels – I’m really not sure which roles were most challenging but all were enjoyable.

As a General Manager I always had a natural suspicion for recruitment agencies – money grabbers who didn’t care who went into the role as long as they got commission…..

That’s what made me really want to work with Action – I’ve been both a candidate and a client of this company and know that you don’t keep a reputation like Brian unless you have integrity and consider the long term relationship more important than making ‘ the sale’.

Dubai and the Middle East is exciting, dynamic, rewarding and challenging at the same time. The entire region is crying out for good staff and despite what you may hear there are a genuine shortage of talent at all levels.

I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you in the desert at some stage!

Nichola Daly – Recruitment Consultant


Nichola’s experience in the hospitality industry spans over sixteen years, from Northern Ireland to the USA, across a range of roles from management, media, marketing, and events. In Belfast, Nichola graduated in Travel and Tourism Management before going on to complete the Marriott International Programme in Arizona, USA. On her return, Nichola took up roles with the Holiday Inn and Northern Ireland Hotels Federation respectively.

Later, combining skill with experience and a wealth of knowledge of contacts throughout the industry, she spent over three years managing the Hospitality Review NI magazine.With a passion for hospitality and people, Nichola has observed the challenges faced and opportunities that lie ahead for the industry in relation to recruitment.

In this role, Nichola will combine these passions, experiences, and awareness of the hospitality landscape to connect people to the right opportunities.


Emily McArdle – Office Manager









Emily has over 15 years experience within the hospitality industry in Ireland. She studied Hotel and Catering Management in DIT Cathal Brugha Street and worked as Catering Manager before studying Human Resources in The NCI.

She merged her experience of the hospitality sector with her HR knowledge, working for many years as a HR professional within the hospitality industry. During this time, she continued her studies and gained IBEC and CIPD qualifications. She has more recently worked as a HR professional within the pharmaceutical industry and is a member of the CIPD.

Her background in catering, hotels and pharma gives her diverse knowledge and experience, which she brings to her role as Office Manager in Action Recruitment.
